Anyone done anything with the dead space under the trunk floor?

Noticed there's a decent gap between the hatch floor & the spare tire. Looks like a good option for some storage solution that's even more out of sight.
Pondering something maybe carpet lined & made from thin/light wood, or maybe multiple 3D printed pieces.

Would be a good spot to keep things like jumper cables, a couple straps & maybe a small toolkit/bottle jack.
Also want to have a hidden lockbox to secure things when not able to take into my destination, since the console & glovebox don't lock.

Thought about a sub as well, I imagine a single would be more than plenty in such a small car.

Also good to know. The upper position seems to work well, and is a fair bit more storage space than the Mini had.

I have a single kicker 10 and 400w, it's not over whelming but enough to shake the tree air freshener

Full size spare, stock scissor jack, plug-in air pump, jumper cables and a 630W RMS amp. There's also some extra goodies like tire pressure gauge, a couple trash bags and rubber gloves.

Keep in mind that this space can be a significant source for noise so adding things that vibrate against the sheetmetal or dance around with bumps in the road, can get annoying.

Carpeting would dampen noise but would hold moisture, humidity and hide evidence of water intrusion.

I have a spare and some jumper cables in there right now, but my plan if I keep the car much longer is to eventually line it with sound deadening and put a subwoofer in there.
