Hello guys and gals! I'm an owner of a 2016 FiST and I love it ... When she works π£ In two months, I've put 3k miles on the clock, have gone through one engine, and now it seems to have an issue with the hill start and the reverse lights are always on. It seems to develop problems when driven hard with the traction control off.
Anyways, the engine failure came about after a decent hill climb on my commute home. Traction control was off, in boost for a while, and when I hit the last quarter of the road, I shifted down to 5th gear. At the crest of the hill, I shifted into 6th and the car was running rough, the check engine light came on, but the turbo still spooled up. I got home when the check engine light came on. I was able to limp her to Ford when the sputtering and extremely rough idle manifested. The failure was a break in the ring lands on the number two piston which then caused a burn down the entire piston. Everything was covered under warranty which was awesome!
Today, up the same road, I wanted to play in the turns, then when I got into town, the hill assist warning came on the screen. I got home and noticed the reverse lights were on, even though I was in neutral with the ebrake on. I turned her off and back on, but the reverse lights were still on. I don't know what happened.
On a positive note, the car is everything I've ever wanted in a car: decently quick, outstanding handling, great brakes, and an nice sound system. I used to race Spec Miata, so I built a road legal version and turbocharged it. It is still my most favorite car I've ever owned, but thie FiST is in a very close second.
I like the bareness of the car. The only upgrade from the base model is the sunroof. I couldn't have asked for a better car!
I look forward to doing more research to upgrade the suspension and brakes, maybe put an LSD in there, then power mods will probably come via Mountune parts installed by Ford.
