Thanks, big hole?, 2 holes actually, 1/2 and 1/4. Sometimes I make decisions and just stick with it. The difference in colour is exaggerated by the camera.
The gauge is a heap easier to see when your driving, just a quick glance to the right.
That makes more sense, I thought you had cut a big hole to fit the pipe into the door panel lol. The new location does make it more usable.

Well I have been playing again.

Boost gauge version one
Boost Guage 4.jpg

Boost gauge version two, I didn't like the satin black background.
Gauge Boost.jpg

Boost gauge version three. It look ok where it was but difficult to focus on.
Boost gauge door-2.jpg

Boost gauge version four. Same position but a new gauge . Electronic stepper motor type.
It self tests when first powered up, the needle does two sweeps of the gauge and it changes colour three times, lol.
It also has a peak boost recall function and max boost alarm.
New gauge, boost 2.jpg
New gauge, boost 3.jpg

Looks great sek. Hey did you do a write up on the version one? I'm interested on how that little cubby comes out.

Thanks Sek, just have an idea that has to do with that area is all. If it works ill do a write up on it, but until then its a surprise.
I'll look forward to seeing what you do. That little pocket is pretty useless, I can't even fit my skinny wallet there.

Nice options Sek.

I want a gauge too, but was thinking of doing this - total cost $45 for gauge + mount.

Stewart Warner Boost Gauge, typeface looks close to OEM

then couple that with the Roush Vent Gauge Holder

What do you guys think of that, it diminishes some of the function of the outer vent but IMO looks the cleanest

I like the vent gauge pod also but living in Texas I need my AC to work at 100% so I'm unsure it would work for me. But it is the cleanest so far.

Gauge in the vent looks good, I have done it before on a Subaru. You do lose some of the vent function like you pointed out, which is the main reason I decided against. Its just too darn hot in the summer time here. I would send a bit more money on a better quality gauge but. That gauge shown isn't even reading zero .

True, I just wanted a mechanical boost gauge, keep things simple, yknow?

I might as well get that sweeper like you got. What brand did you grab, as I'm trying to keep things looking similar to the stock instrumentation.

I like to modify my things to look like "it came that way" or "as OEM" even though it's wildly different lol

Its a Racetech gauge, the gauges seem to be popular with 4wd guys (SUVs). I did a bit of google research, most of the reviews were very positive .
The first gauge I used was a Turbosmart mechanical gauge and after about a months use the needle was not coming back to the zero position. That was before I damaged it, lol.

Behold:

I tapped into 2 fuses...I don't even know what they do. I just know that 1 was constant power, the other was power upon ignition. And then of course the negative is somewhere on bare metal of the car. I chose the spot where the battery links to the car. You know, that spot with the bolt keeping that giant wire is at.

I'm gonna look at my manual again to see what I tapped into, but in case you guys wanted to see:

What did you use to block the center console hole and mount the gauge there?

So no one makes a gauge pod that sits on the steering column? This one replaced the upper steering column trim on my Mk4 GTi and was about $40

I didn't want to cut anything or make holes.
