Every time after doing rolling 1st gear aggressive accelerations and driving 'hard' for a few minutes (and more agressive braking), I notice a burning smell. Is this the brakes or the clutch?? Should I be worried?

Thanks.

How many miles on the car? For the first 1000 or so you get residue burning off areas. Mine was worse as I got undercoating and they oversprayed on the muffler.

Could it be an oil splash around the oil filler plug?

I looked but didn't see anything. I have to bring it in to ford to look at the airbag light and I think Ill ask about it there as-well.

Update: Found that the car was leaking oil only when it is moving. I assume that this was the source of the smell.

Is it possible that this "burning smell" could just be oil blow by being burnt off during combustion under hard driving?

I had a similar smell in both my ST and Lightning under hard driving, once I installed catch cans the smell went away

I know this is an old thread. But that would be sweet if you could tell us what the dealer found on your ST? I'm experiencing a similar issue at 10,000miles
