California ST Owners Track Day Planning Thread

Hey guys,

It seems we have a pretty decent amount of track day fiesta ST owners in California and neighboring states that are having a great time at various track days.
We should try to all hit up the same track day.

Let's try to plan a couple track days for maximum participation starting in 2016.

For those unaware, here is what's in our backyard... feel free to let me know if I'm missing anything.

SoCal:
Willow Springs International Raceway (Rosamond, CA)
Streets of Willow (Rosamond, CA)
Autoclub Speedway (Fontana, CA)
Buttonwillow Raceway (28 miles north of Bakersfield, CA)
Chuckwalla Raceway (Desert Center, CA)

NorCal:
Laguna Seca (Salinas, CA)
Sonoma Raceway (Sonoma, CA)
Thunderhill (Willows, CA)

Nevada:
Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch (Pahrump, NV)

Out of all these tracks, which would be best for everyone?

Maybe we can pick one socal location (I'm thinking Buttonwillow or Streets of Willow) a NorCal location and Spring Mountain if it's available to get together with the Nevada folks.

Hope you guys are interested in trying to make this happen. I met Pete at the last attempt for something like this and it's really a great time to meet people from the forums and have a good time.

I'm just spit balling ideas, it would be badass to do a track day with more of you guys. I did this kind of stuff on the corvette forum for the California members and they basically were able to make a fun series out of it and made different classes, bbqd and had good times. Sounds good to me!

I'm up for track days whenever. Let's get this rolling. I personally really want to try the horsethief mile. I also really really like big willow.
Anyways let's get this going and get some race days going. I need to stretch the legs on this big turbo kit.

I was out at spring mountain back in September and that was a great time. The track was in pretty good shape and Pahrump is actually not a terrible little city. The drive back was the same weekend Burning Man ended and we were passing 5 RV's at a time on the way back to California.

I am trying to do a track day every month. I do not mind doing the same track over and over again either but I also would like to try other tracks as well. I am a little biased to the more southern areas as I am in San Diego but with advanced planning I can do the norcal tracks as well :) this month I will be back at willow springs on Dec 26th. But we can make a "schedule" of different track availabilities and then vote on each one. Like maybe a month or two in advance.

If we were to sample SoCal, Norcal and Nevada, this is what im thinking, all with speedventures:

March:5-6 Buttonwillow
April: 23-24 Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
May: 20-22 Laguna Seca

The other months I would choose to stay more local and hit up things in southern california with the other SoCal folks on here. I think these would be some fun tracks to sample for 2016 before the dead heat of the summer.

What's everyone else think? What organization would you recommend running with and what is their schedule?

I track through Northern California Racing Club (NCRC) Their prices are competitive and they really focus on safety.

Their schedule is as follows:
Sat January 30, Laguna Seca
Fri February 26, Laguna Seca
Sat March 19, Thunderhill
Sun March 20, Thunderhill
Mon April 11, Thunderhill
Fri May 6, Laguna Seca
Mon May 16, Laguna Seca
Mon May 23, Thunderhill
Sat June 4, Buttonwillow
Sun June 5, Buttonwillow
Mon June 6, Laguna Seca
Fri June 10, Thunderhill
Sat July 9, Thunderhill
Sun July 10, Thunderhill
Mon August 1, Laguna Seca
Sat August 6, Thunderhill
Sun August 7, Thunderhill
Fri August 26, Thunderhill
Sat September 10, Thunderhill
Sun September 11, Thunderhill
Fri October 7, Thunderhill
Fri October 28, Laguna Seca
Sat November 26, Laguna Seca
Sun November 27, Laguna Seca
Sat December 10, Laguna Seca
Sun December 11, Laguna Seca

I'm thinking about signing up for Laguna Seca again on Jan 30th.

Joszer thanks for posting this! I wouldn't be opposed to running with NCRC, especially when you have had good experiences with them.

Let's all keep the dialogue going.

I am all for Laguna and other tracks easy to drive to with the car from the Bay Area, but most importantly meeting all you and having a good time.

Sonoma Raceway is literally in my back yard so there is no excuse to not go. I'd be up for that.

I'd be down for a track day in SoCal or Laguna Seca.

In any case I'll be doing Buttonwillow on Jan 30 or 31 ... testing Quaife LSD and Boomba deflectors :)

How many sessions does SpeedVentures offer on their track days? The $10 gate fee kills it for me. Extra $20 for me and my girl. Extra $10 can send me to Laguna Seca.

I want to go up to Laguna Seca in May.

NCRC has a Friday May 6 and a Monday May 16
Speed Ventures has a Fri-Sat-Sun on May 20-22.

I'm okay with all the dates but Monday May 16th.

Joszer I believe the 10 dollar get fee is a track specific fee, not an organizational fee. The speedventures May 20-22 says there is no gate fee for laguna seca. I've been to Willow Springs for multiple events over the years to participate/watch put on by different organizations, pretty sure the track is asking 10 bucks per person just to get on the property.
