I have a 2017 ford fiesta st and my charge temps have rise when im at a complete stop or in traffic it has gone up to 127f and the day is not too bad usually at around 80-90 degrees outside but not sure why i have a mishimoto intercooler, igen short ram intake, and stock radiator but just got it recently and i dont remember my car overheating when everything was stock with no off the shelf tune but after I installed the off the shelf tune it started happening so still trying to figure out what to do should I get a different tune, a aftermarket radiator, thermostat, or put the stock intake system? If anyone knows something please let me know

An intercooler only functions with air pressure. A larger intercooler may take longer to reach higher temperatures at a stop than the stock intercooler but it's still a giant hunk of metal that needs airflow.

Also, might want to clarify the details here as you're saying you overheated but you're only talking about the intercooler and not coolant temps. 127f charge temp is not remotely concerning at a stop.

Yep - If you don't have air moving through your IC, it's not going to cool anything. I've seen 120's in the summer heat in traffic and I have a Whoosh V3, so I wouldn't be terribly concerned. Do they drop to just above ambient while driving?

Bringing this back from the dead. I recently went to an S280, currently on revision 2 which is about 24lbs. I installed the Whoosh Ram Air intake and charge air temps in the heat went up a few degrees compared to the St200 intake it replaced. During a 3rd gear pull with charge air temps starting at 100dg the charge temps will drop to about 96dg and slowly rise up to about 105 by the end of the pull. It's been blazing hot here with temps at about 92-94 ambient. Does it sound like the intercooler is adequate? The intercooler was on the car when I bought it and I believe it's the V2. Is the V3 that much better? Or do the temps seem normal for conditions?

Any intercooler is better than Stock* Most will Run 5-7 degrees above ambient when cruising. Then when you do a pull it will bring it down to ambient. Most intercoolers for our cars are Bar and plate Not Tube an Fin. Bar and plate is better than Tube and Fin BTW. As long as you are seeing the temps go down as you do a pull its fine. If there is an issue the Tuner will tell you. i had a Stock like intercooler and it wasn't holding up according to my Tuner at the time so i got a BA intercooler and never looked back with any of my BT setups i have ran.

No, the V3 won't be much better, and 10 degrees above ambient by the end of a WOT pull is perfectly fine.

Agreed on both counts. Any other intake or cooling modifications, @Mega ST ? I ask because heat wrapping my crossover pipe in the engine bay was a pain in the ass but made a significant difference in how quickly my charge air temps cool off in traffic.

I bought the crossover pipe from a road racer and it is wrapped in a reflective material. Not sure of it’s effectiveness.
