Clutch Pressure Bleeding From the Top vs Bottom

I've reviewed as many clutch bleeding threads as I could find, but I'm still left wondering: if I have a Motiv pressure bleeder, does bleeding the clutch with pressure fed via the fill reservoir at the top of the hydraulic system suffice? Or does that put my clutch slave cylinder at risk, somehow? Should I just go get a generic fluid pump and follow the service manual's method, or is that really just "six of one, half a dozen of the other"?

Ive used the motive pressure bleeder twice on my clutch and it’s fine. It does push fluid it through the brake fluid reservoir. From what I understand (could be wrong here) you bleed by the bottom at the slave cylinder when the system has no fluid to begin with, eg. you just changed the clutch.
