In the end, they like the fiesta better for the streets and the focus for the track.

This is exactly the conclusion I came to at the STOA. I still love my Fiesta ST and have done some things to make it more suited to the track, but, to me, the Focus felt more planted right out of the box. It inspired (for me) more confidence that it would hang in there at the limit (which I did not approach -- although my instructor did in the short ride-along). My niece's husband is purchasing a Focus ST and I envy him a little bit on this dimension.
