Ford issues recalls for certain 2014-15 Fiestas

In affected vehicles, the latch pawl spring-tab design is susceptible to cracking and failure in areas with high ambient temperatures. A door latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a “door will not close” condition. If the customer is able to latch the door after repeated attempts, there is a potential the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury.

I thought this was an interesting statement in the notice.

Affected vehicles are or have been previously registered in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington and federal territories.

I’ve only gotten the “door will not close condition” in the bitter cold... My 2015 is unaffected based on the VIN check. I’d have to check the DOM but obviously must be later in the year in ‘14. Best of luck to others as this could be quite the unsafe situation.
