how are the Coolerworx shifters these days?

I know a couple years ago these weren't the most reliable without additional parts of work. Curious how they work today, as of Aug 2025?

Think I read in these forums they were revised at least once along the way. A few years I almost ordered a unit but decided against one in case they failed at the track or far away. How are they today? Are there any precautionary measures to consider while first installing? Only thing I've found is that it's more of a hassle if one has already installed a Moutune shifter (actually have one sitting in the garage but never installed).

With aftermarket shift knobs, anything to avoid like weighted knobs? I know the shift knob uses 12x1.5 thread, so tempted to go with JDC titanium knob at a moderate 10.2 oz. I know the fiesta doesn't go with heavier knobs, but this I am not sure about.

Side note also considered the CAE unit, but seems like a huge hassle having to modify/butcher shifter cables. Whoosh also sells a Hong Kong (one of my favorite places in the world) made WK shifter, but the part seems less proven and on a superficial level, bit too flashy for me.

I really enjoyed my 2 year tour in Hong Kong. Fantastic place for food! Worked anti-vice for 6 months arresting street walkers and making sure the girls in the bars and brothels went for their weekly checkups. Had a lot of fun running round Kowloon and had no problems from the Triads!

I went down the route of trying to improve the stock shifter with bushings and short shifters etc, but the Coolerworx is 100x better than you will ever get the stock shifter, it’s probably my favourite mod in the whole car.

I think I might’ve left my shifter base loose when I connect the cables. It was a bit stiff for sure. It was WAY easier than when I installed a CAE kit in a different car that replaces those cables all together though. 😂

how long did it take you to install?
curious also if it makes it harder to money shift the car, or makes no difference at all. That's one of things i'm mot horrified to do in this car. Had some close calls wanting to shift from 3rd to 4th, almost accidently going into 2nd instead.

30 min install, maybe an hour if you’re slow. You’ll want a second set of hands - one to align the shifter and the other to push it into place.

As for money shifting, it may be slightly harder to money shift but I don’t think there’s a massive difference here. The feel is great though and shifts are short. The height is also a huge plus making it easier to reach.
