That’s the first time I’ve seen this. Can you see exactly where it’s coming from?
No I can't yet. I ran 3 sessions then just hung out after that. I popped my hood just to cool down after the 3rd session and caught a quick glimpse of smoke. That's what made me investigate further. I'll pull the car apart this week and see what I can find. Is it possible I've got too much crankcase pressure and this is the weak point? Do you run a catch can at all? I have a PCV catch can and the previous owner installed a check valve on it, wondering if that's an issue. Was planning to pull the whole thing out anyways.

I have a Damond catch can with a check valve and it’s never given any trouble. It’s super easy to drain too. I wonder if your check valve is stuck or backwards.

It looks like I'm blowing oil out of the bottom of the factory air/oil separator. 97k miles, catch can is installed but on the other line. See picture attached. Would love opinions here hopefully that's all it is. Tagging @Woods247
Are you overfilled on the oil level as many open trackers do in lieu of a dry sump, or oil accumulator (Canton Accusump/Moroso/etc.), in order to avoid oil starvation on high g sweepers/turns?

my car is completely track dedicated. I have never “overfilled“ my oil as a reference. I keep it full, but I never overfill. Also, I have a baffle in the oil pan, for what it is worth.

Hopefully it’s coming from an obvious spot like a hose with a weakened clamp. My turbo oil drain line has a very slight leak from one of those clamps failing like the one in your pic.

FWIW I don’t overfill my oil either and I don’t think any track in the US has a sweeper as fast and long as Atlanta Motorsports Park. I fuel starve unless I’m at 2/3 full tank on that sweeper. That’s also where I have a false crash issue. I’ll figure out how to post the video soon.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll tear into the car next week. I ordered the Radium dual catch can setup since it looks quite nice. Hoping the leak is obvious once I get into it. Also going to change the oil and send a sample to Blackstone.

Garmin Catalyst was decent. Mount fell off the glass, going to attach it to the dash. Not sure why there is noise/fuzz but I'm going to look into it. Was this time fast? I have no idea but it's a baseline for me before additional mods.

I don’t know if it was fast, but it sure looks fun. Is the catalyst how you get the gauges and track map overlayed on your footage?

Nice job Jabbit!
Sorry you're smoking a bit, I hope you sort that out,
but the video is awesome,
that catalyst software makes it look like a real life video game.

Awesome to follow the G-meter on the right as your turning, passing,
and making tire noise.

Car looks and sounds smooth.

Is there any OBD input for the Garmon so you could get a tach gauge on the screen as well?
Would be really helpful to see corner entrance/exit RPMs in addition to the MPH & G's.

Either way,
very nice! and keep posting videos please!

Hmm that's a cool idea to figure out an rpm overlay. Let me think about that.

Here's another video, was following a couple S2000s pretty well and one of them spun. Driver was ok, car was not too rough.

I'm definitely digging the catalyst aoftware. Luckily that's all that happened to that S2000. Could've been much worse. I'm definitely glad everyone is ok.

I had a 996 pop a motor in front of me yesterday. I need to see if I saved the vid on the Catalyst. My entire car was full of his smoke and I couldn’t see shit 😂

I had a Miata in front of me get two wheels in the gravel, over correct, and come back up the track at me. It was like all the NASCAR races I’ve watched on TV ….. except everything got slow, and I kept my foot on the gas as I yelled in slo-mo, “nooooooooooooo.”

He breezed right across my nose without touching and all was good, LOL

How did the 2560r feel?
It felt good, not quite on my final 93 tune. Then on to ethanol. I don't have much to compare it to. My last car was S280 but this car is 2560r and LSD/gearing. The S280 felt faster but the LSD was significant on track.

Making through those without issues always feels so good. I had a disabled guy LAUNCH his GTI over an 8ft wall Dukes of Hazzard style and land on its side right in front of me just before the braking zone on a 125mph straight at AMP. I can’t believe I was able to get around him without any damage. The track’s video is awesome but they won’t give me a copy 😆 . That wreck has become a legend. Some believe it and others don’t.. The fact no one new to stop at the red flag except two other cars and me is the #1 reason I no longer participate at TNIA events. I think they have drivers meetings now but back then a first time driver could sign up for Advanced which is exactly what happened that day. They didn’t go over flags, point byes or anything “safety”. Complete shitshow.

I've never heard of something that ridiculous in the HPDE world. Crazy.

The guy that crashed showed me his video and he was 100% calm the entire time. He floored the accelerator instead of the brake. He literally said “Uh oh wrong pedal.” and that was it. No emotions.. His daily medication list must’ve been thick. I kinda felt bad for the guy but at the same time he could’ve killed someone.

I think the oil leak might have been a red herring. Still going to swap the separator anyways. Also found a small coolant leak from the overflow tank. I think I know which line, going to swap it then pressure test the system and see what happens. I don't really want to take a car with oil and coolant leaks to the track, regardless of how minor.

I’m 50 years old.

In my younger days, all the cars leaked almost the second they left the lot. It was a given.

Nowadays, they are better, but I think perhaps it’s easy to get bogged down with this stuff more than we need to. I’m as guilty of it as anyone.
