Inactive coils and rust

So it seems like inactive coils in progressive springs (or I recon even linear springs like Swift R) are not entirely static if the wheel needs to drop low enough and so that would mean that as they bounce back together, the powder coating will start to rub off exposing the metal and encouraging rust. Looking at photos and judging from my B14s of few months old supports the theory (no rust yet but the coating is definitely getting it)

Is this an expected course of things? Does that mean that such rust is not a huge deal in terms of spring longevity?

Springs will rust through inside the coating. It happened on my old 2004 F150.

It is expected/normal for them to rust, there is nothing you can do about it. Over time the resitance the spring provides will lessen as the spring gets thinner though it wont be noticible under normal conditions. They are a wear part, so eventually they might be worthy of replacement (good idea to look at them when the shocks themselves wear out)
