Lamin-X fog light covers burned up

I bought the yellow fog light covers from Lamin-X and put them on last summer. A few months ago I noticed that they were all burned up and I had to take them off. Apparently the fog light bulbs are pretty powerful. Did this happen to anyone else?

Happy to me on my 09 civic si coupe. I had yellow bulbs with the yellow covers . I think they're to powerful just like you said

I have light tint added to my fogs for protection from chips and cracks....

And not surprising to hear that film got damaged with standard halogen fog lamp....a very common complaint....

This is one of the reasons why I also replaced my fog lamps with LEDs as they generate very low heat and will not damage film...

This happened to me on my previous car, 2006 Nissan Sentra. It took a few years for it to burn for me though.

I've read about this happening before on the Ford Focus forums...swapping over to LED should fix the overheat problem.

One member even got his covers replaced for free under warranty.

Looks awesome! Wonder how a yellow Lamin-X or Headlight Armor overlay would look over these since they are a whiter light than halogen.

Seems like the way to go with these LEDs now a days.

Or you can use PIAA 2500K bulbs.
They are very yellow.
This way you don't need to use the film.

Thanks for the info, I do like how the yellow overlays look though, it's aesthetically pleasing to see a yellow fog lamp without it even being in use. To me anyway, lol.

I agree.
That is why I went to the 2500K bulbs when my Lamin-X burned and turned brown.
2500K bulbs are just as yellow without the overlays.

No problem at all.
As you know the LEDs do not generate forward directed heat.

I will definitely replace the fog bulbs because I really like the yellow laminate. I got a set of tinted headlight covers for Christmas (still haven't put them on yet) and it came with another set of yellow fog light covers, so I won't have to buy new ones. Will the headlight covers burn out after a while as well?
