I should probably just purchase the cobb ecu programming device, but a co worker mentioned software that can do similar for less money.
Any recommendations on software, as the EcuFlash does not list any of my cars as compatible.
I would love to mount an android screen w/ software that I could use to record my car and then potentially send it off to someone smarter than me for a tune.

The fact that EcuFlash doesn't list your cars is a pretty important clue. There isn't really a universal piece of software that can safely replace a manufacturer-specific tuning interface. ECU protocols, ROM definitions and available parameters vary considerably between cars.

An Android head unit can definitely be useful as a display/logger, but I'd separate that from ECU flashing. For logging, you can use an OBD/CAN interface with compatible Android software and record the parameters your ECU exposes. Then you can export the logs (CSV, etc.) and send them to a tuner. That's a much less risky setup than trying to make the Android tablet responsible for flashing the ECU.
