Looking to upgrade my sound system

So I'm currently trying to invest in a better sounding system in my fiesta, but I just don't know which direction to go in.

What parts should I be purchasing and which parts should I leave alone?

I'm not looking to break my wallet either, mainly want to have some low end if anything. The lack of bass is my biggest concern.

Thanks for the help.

In the Fiesta, simply adding an amp and small subwoofer will make a world of difference.

Got a 10 in Rockford Fosgate sub in a small box for $100 that fits on top of the spare tire in the hatch. Getting an amp and everything else including an adjustment knob with installation cost me another $300 and now it sounds great. A 12 in was just a few dollars more and I wish I had it now but still a good system. Had it for over 2 years now. In our small car I have to turn it down if anyone sits in the back because it is too loud.

I got something similar to this. An older version that was cheaper. It isn't as good as a huge box with 2 12's but for our car it is hard to beat something that is out of the way and doesn't impede on our limited space. It also has no problem shaking outside mirrors at 80 mph.

Easy install, nice low end fill, fits under the false floor and beside the spare. Let me know if you have any install questions.

do you know if this would fit under the false floor? i've been having my eye on this.. or should i go down to the 10inch version of this sub?

would you recommend a separate amp and a separate sub? or would a selfpowered sub like the rockford fosgate punch series work just fine?

Depends if you want really loud bass or just something a bit better than stock. Going separate will give you more options and customization.

Get rid of the spare and put a real subwoofer and amp back there.

I did a complete system upgrade including moving the tweeters to the dash. With some work you can get a kick ass system in this car. I spent around $1800 for sub, amps, mids, tweeters, sound deadening, install, etc...

It was worth every penny.

I don't think so, not without removing the spare. I can tell you even that small PS-8 images really well off the small hatch. It really depends if you're looking for boom or low end that blends with the rest of the stereo. For me it was the best bang for the buck without having to remove the spare. I also replaced the front mids and tweeters with some JBL units and the combo works pretty well for me, not sure if it's worth doing the rear door speakers.

So is this thing just a plug and play? I'm looking for slightly better bass for cheap without changing much. I'd rather spend my money to go faster, but this sound system definitely leaves me wanting more.

I got a line level converter to convert speaker level inputs into RCA, but it will accept line level too. It's amped, and it comes with a basic wiring kit, you may need some ring connectors etc. over all pretty easy, hardest part was running power through the firewall, but if you have two people that's pretty painless. I used an add-a-fuse to connect it to the fuse for my non-existent sunroof for the turn on signal.
