Yes that is a single voice coil 15" FB_IMG_1571532569950.jpg FB_IMG_1571532629060.jpg FB_IMG_1571532617788.jpg IMG_20191019_192128_430.jpg IMG_20191019_192128_435.jpg recent work finished today. Im slowly pulling off all the cpe stuff besides the catback. Had a lot of fitment issues and i drive the car a lot. In 3 years ive put 97000 miles on it. Still stock turbo, no catch can ( might need one) on a cobb stage 3 map. Stock cat ( needs to change) and i want to replace the pcv valve because of the miles on it.

I'd like to hear that stereo with a 15 behind it!

I bet you can pick up a used cat here pretty cheap.

That speaker is just a mockup currently. I figure the stock headunit has enough high end that is can cope well with an SVC 15 of moderate power. ( like 300 watts max)

I've always been a rockford fosgate fan so thats 90% what im going with. Im also looking at the S280 turbo upgrade. I currently have an MAP intercooler that id like to get my hks BOV mounted to, once i get an aftermarket crash bar. She also needs an oil cooler and the st200 box.

If you are running the OEM Turbo you do NOT need to do change out the Cat because it's actually "tuned" to the output of the stock Turbo. Change that out and the results will be negative, you may see more lag and quite possibly a reduction in power produced.

Take a look into the outlet of the stock downpipe and you will see what appears to be a necked down area that most will assume is a Restriction. However look into the Expansion chamber on a 2 cycle racing engine and and you will come to realize that Ford is using the Catalytic Converter as an Expansion Chamber and that necked down area is a critical component of that Expansion Chamber. So, what's the point of that Expansion chamber? It's purpose is to increase the efficiency and velocity of the exhaust flow thru the Turbocharger. There is a lot of complex goings on between the exhaust ports and the downpipe outlet with Vacuum waves bouncing back into the turbo and the timing for these events is critical. I would bet that Ford spent many many hours on multiple dyno's "tuning" that downpipe to provide the best balance between spool time, torque/RPM balance, and the shape and position of the peak on the power curve.

Another positive for keeping the OEM downpipe is that you won't get crossed up with the EPA for running a non compliant downpipe.

It needs changed to a higher flow cat pipe. The bigger turbo i want is gonna need it. And im cool with losing a little torque on the stock turbo if it makes the car better in corners. And will respond to the bigger snail better. I understand it will shift the powerband some.

You took those track tires (at least they look like track tires from the outer block edges/cuts, unless they are the 400 tread wear DZ101s??) off road?

You ARE brave! [thumb]

I understand the need for a larger DP with a larger Turbo, all I was pointing out was that until you install that larger turbo you'll find the stock DP to be superior. In addition you will have to pull the DP when you install the new turbo so why not do the DP and Turbo together.

Another issue to be looking into is how well certain DP's work with certain turbo's. Because the interaction between the two can have a significant effect on the resulting power curve. It's why I think that it's best to purchase the turbo kit and DP together from the same source. Doing so increases the odds that the manufacture developed the DP specifically to work optimally with their chosen turbo.

Im fairly certain my cat is starting to have some issues. It is hard diagnose on my drives as the local farms inject manure so there is a lot of sulphur smell in the air already. I dont mind doing the work twice. At that point i will be putting an extrude honed manifold on.
