But this sucker hits hard!

I had to knock out the supports in the box and expand the hole to fit the sub. 500w RMS and I believe 1000w max

Massive audio hippo 84. With an Alpine 500 watt placed under the driver's seat. Running line level input from the rear speakers in the passenger side pillar.

So there is no sub input on the stock head unit? What about the remote wire?

Went through a few boxes till I found this set up.
Sub: Massive Audio Hippo84 $100
Amp:Alpine MRV-M500*paid $150 Amazon has it for $115 right now
Remote: Alpine 500RUXKNO2 $30
Box: Sound Ordnance Model BB8-35S $40

Wiring: Belva 4ga (BAK42) $22

Amp takes line level input from speakers and turns on by itself.

Here's some pictures:

Even used the factory ground

I loved my Hippo 84. No one would ever believe me that it was a 8” sub.

I went with a TOROX in my FiST.

The sub is crazy for it's size and going to a sealed box made it much more responsive and tight. It sounds like I have a hatch filled with expensive audio equipment. It's amazing how small and efficient the amp is too.

I have a Skar 8" VVX-8v3 sub in my cart waiting for me to buy... what are your thoughts on it? I need more bass in my life. I'm thinking of the Skar 800w mono amp as well but I don't know how much the stock electrical system can handle.

Stock electrical system will be fine. The newer amps are super efficient.

Also I'd almost recommend a smaller sub. My 8" is honestly overkill. Even with a sealed box anything over 1/4 gain is really loud. Take a look at the Massive Audio GTX64

Good food for thought is to also upgrade the Big 3. Can be done for $100-150.
