Even heavier compared to the Hoosier A7.
That tire is in a completely different category/construction type (except for it still being a radial, LOL) than the Nankang, or ANY other 100/200 tread wear sticky for that matter. (But maybe that was the point you were trying to make? [dunno]) [wink]

The A052s tend to run lighter in any given size, than the rest of the 200 tread wears, especially the other XL rated ones (probably due to their very shallow molded tread depth), but yeah, nowhere near the Hoosier daddies.

Cheater 200’s... probably should have made it clear what we were talking about and why, as so many rules restrict tires to 200.... yes, there’s 200+ treadwear and less than 200 street legal tires... not sure what the 100/200 category is, but the Toyos are 100TW don’t compare too well with many 200TW even so why not just look at the Hoosiers for weight comparison. Yes the Yoks are indeed light, and they are cheater 200’s also (as in they don’t come close to a typical 200TW expectation in terms of wear either, and grip well exceeds what the proper 200TW would allow.)

Most rules, yes, MUCH MORE so for SCCA's less than prepared class autocross than ANY open track run group/org, do not allow for any UNDER 200 labeled (let alone any even 100) tread wear stickies, which the Hoosiers plainly are.

Ironically, the SCCA used to allow them (the A6/R6) for even STOCK class autocross competition way back when, but their cost kept so many from being competitive, so hence, the '200' tread wear (albeit yes, somewhat 'fake', and opening the door for the manufacturers to develop bragging rights, 'cheater' 80 tread wear comparable tires to pose as 200 tread wears) requirements.

Here’s a great article just received and read today from the SCCA and GRMS... thought about our 200TW tire threads when it mentioned the extra weight the 200TW versions have, although I doubt it’s just the deeper tread blocks... the wear rate for the 200TW tires being higher at the track and also running hotter is interesting... applies to one brand of tires anyway.

Yeah, I saved their email with that article as well, just have not read it yet.

I do agree with them though, as the 200s are getting closer and closer in grip/performance, every consecutive year, to the 00-50 tread wear, slick, 'R-comp' gumballs. [wink] [thumb]
