Wonder if we lose about the same on 87 octane.

According to this document, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque when running on lower octane fuel. That's a substantial reduction of about 11.3 percent compared to when the engine drinks 93 octane. Interestingly, according to Mustang 6G, that finding was a bit better than expected, because a Ford engineer reportedly said power would be down about 13 percent without altering peak torque.

I've never seen a dyno run comparing stock 91/93 to stock 87. I'd be interested to see it.

If you look at the tuning tables in Accesstuner, when the car detects low octane fuel it's pretty aggressive how much timing it removes.

Same here, ran a bone stock Ecoboost Stang auto. 30-100ish highway roll, dead even till about 85ish, then he pulled about half a car length on me before letting off. Ran him one more time down the road, pulled ahead on him from 75+ about half car length. Mutual thumbs up all around LOL! He was surprised and I was too! Talk to him a bit after we pulled off at a gas station.
