Has anyone opened up the lower part of their grill? Would you have to cut out each individual honeycomb?

I was just dicusding this option the other day, i reckon the crash bar painted would look magic. Its just the work of the grill grinding lol.

Use a sanding disc and a drill. I did mine with two rasp sanding discs I got off of amazon. It will wear out your hands but it only took 90mins. There is enough material on the grill itself you can sand on the back of the grill Until the inner pieces fall out. It's faster, but leaves a mess of plastic dust on everything around the area where your sanding it.

I used an orbital sander with like 40 grit paper and sanded off the backside, and yes the stock crash bar looks awful behind it lol
