So for those who dont know i bought this car roughly 2 months ago and the previous owner had done so mods to it, im curious to know if anyone knows what this could possibly be?
I turned the car completely on and pushed/held the button down but nothing seemed to happen, any ideas?

Judging by the butt connector i can see in the background, it goes into the harness there. Assuming that's not something you did.

any name brands anywhere on the boxes? I would just trace them to their sources and disconnect them. I wouldn't be comfortable having mystery devices spliced into my harness.

no there wasnt any brands anywhere on the box, the wires that were connected were purple, brown and black. all of which were solid colors.
i traced it and they went under the paneling so i checked the engine bay but the only colored wires matching those were a single wires with two colors on them.

On my (previous) Titanium there was something down there too, but I don't remember how exactly how it looked.

It was a dealer installed anti-theft device and if you wanted it, you would pay extra. If you didn't want it, they would disable it. It was sort of a back handed way of trying to sell an option. That might be a possibility.

It isn't on my FiST

With the splices leading to red and yellow wires, I'd bet dollars to donuts there was an aftermarket stereo in there. I'm guessing that button was an on/off of some sort for an amp.

FWIW, my gut reaction was "kill switch" also.

So the wires you traced go through the firewall? Maybe nitrous but those systems usually come with way prettier buttons. And that's a stupid place for it.

Can't be kill switches just sitting in a such a convenient spot. Remote amp turn ons also come with better buttons. plus, that wouldn't run under the panel towards the engine

I would just disconnect the battery, cut the wires in such a way that they could be spliced back together. Then if nothing weird happens just tape off the wires and remove the box.

whatever you do, find out where those wires connect to! it's the only way to find out for sure wtf that box is

Looks like one of those lame dealer installed accessory alarms, I take if you breathe on the car wrong it'll go off
