(Possibly) Blew a head gasket looking for suggestions

So excited for it to start up and run. I hope everything goes smoothly with the break in miles
Right now, looks like I should have it running tomorrow, then barring any major issues, buttoning everything up and driving on Thursday. If all systems are go, driving around aimlessly as much as possible over the weekend.

It’s cool that you have the sandwich plate with the oil temp. It’ll be interesting to see how close or far off the access port is with its calculated oil temp value. Glad it’s up and running and I hope it’s running well!

Ran it for 20 minutes or so yesterday to heat it up, bleed the coolant system/oil system, check for leaks and all that. Seemed to be running fine and fired right up without any hesitation.

I'll be starting on the break in miles this afternoon/evening.


From what I was seeing, seems the inferred oil temperature on the AP is ~20 degrees above what I am reading on the gauge in the sandwich plate. Given I have non-stock just about everything, this could be throwing off the assumptions/calculations the ECU uses to interpolate or extrapolate the oil temperature.

What did you use to attach the plate? I know it's 3/4-16 thread but I haven't found how long I need the threads into the block

I ended up piecing them together separately, but I essentially got this. Just needed to trim the male-male stud ~0.5" shorter (on the external side) to get it to work with the mounting depth on the ST (it's sized for a 1JZ/2JZ).

Sweet I was going to use an old SBC coupler but was struggling to confirm both sides had the proper pitch.

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure at first, so I just rolled the dice and can confirm both the block side and filter side are the same 3/4 - 16 thread. So, even a bored out threaded rod or stud could be used if needed.
