Wow! The North American and European versions of the airbox are quite different (your image vs. BRGT350's)

That would be perfect for me. The GGR intake was the first intake I wanted, but the price of it landed here in SA is over R5000.00. I am currently trying to source a company that stocks those big mouth snorkels locally [coolsmile]

Thats what I would like to do, trying to get a second airbox to mess with though. Looks great!
It was pretty easy and cheap to do. The aluminum lower stack is for a Webber carb and the side is from a Yamaha (I think) bike. Both fit perfectly!

Fiesta SFE 1.0L air box modification by Bryan Redeker, on Flickr

I added a velocity stack to the bottom and side of the factory lower airbox on my ST and my brother's 1.0L. The addition of both items seem to be working fine and the velocity stacks smooth out the airflow entering the airbox and amplify the sound coming back out during off-throttle boost purge.

Would you elaborate on what you've done here? I'm in the process of doing some fabrication myself. I can't quite tell from the pictures, it looks gutted and chopped up. Did you simply cut a hole in the side and bottom and add the tubing? The gold wrap makes that picture hard to understand, like an optical illusion, at least to my eyes.

Also when you speak of sound are you talking about more whooshing and whistling like a BOV, or more growl?

I cut out the bottom and cut a 3 inch hole on the drivers side. With the stock filter and the windows up you can hear a faint spool noise and the a diverter valve noise. This is at low speed, with road noise it is very hard to hear. When I run a green panel filter the noises are more audible but still very subdued when the road noise picks up. When you roll the window down you get a nice treat of spool and diverter noise. My Recent data logs have shown the modified box with the stock filter flowing nearly the same volume of air as the Injen sri that I had for a week.

Hi guys. I know, another "airbox" thread [:o]

Has anyone removed the snorkel (highlighted in blue) and noticed an improvement in sound?

Can the bit highlighted in red be detached from the box or would it need to be cut out?

I have a k&n panel filter and would like to improve the sound a bit without cutting up the airbox.

Best way to increase the sound whilst retaining cold intake temperatures is to drill a 2.5’ hole in the side of the air box and route a 60mm ram air duct underneath the headlight. I haven't seen much on the 2.5 inlet that you have on the air box, do you have a part number or something (Amazon, ebay, etc?). Did you cut a hole in your bumper under the headlight, like AET Motorsports does with the ITG kit?
