Went to put my stock exhaust back on today and broke the two studs that connect to exhaust. Is there easy way to get these out or any tips?

I think they're pressed in. You might have to drill it out man. Then get a set of bolts and nuts from a hardware store.

Yeah that's what looking like. Did exhaust at 700 miles and they were pita then. Now 3500 miles and snap they went with ease. Tried drilling end that broke off and it was pretty damn hard. Not sure what to do now as its my dd

Only thing you may be able to try is a small drill bit at first the larger next to the stud and hope it can be drilled or pounded out. Last resort is a flame wrench or maybe grind off the backs of the bolts.

How hard to pull downpipe on these things? Easy? I think might be easier to work on out of car.

There are a few DIY theres around but the hardest part is getting the heatshield off I thought then I wrangled mine out the top after taking the battery and all out. since you are not replacing it the O2 probes wont be a issue just a few feet of wire in the way to get out..

Sonmething like this might work on the car depending on how much room you have to work.

I made my own by modify a regular c-clamp, drill a hole through the end the same size as your stud.

Interesting. I tried a c clamp with a open und wrench on one side so good push it. I heated it red hot and tried but all I did was bend the handle trying to crank it. I'm gonna call local exhaust shop and see if can do tomorrow otherwise I'll try again.

Sorry to revive an old thread but this just happened to me. Went to install my map cat back and had the stock exhaust mostly removed, I was cranking on the nuts that hold the stock exhaust to the downpipe when the studs broke.

Any other ideas on how to get the studs out? Would like to get them out and exhaust on tonight if possible.

For me was just easier to have exhaust shop deal with. I tried many things and they didn't wanna come out. Happy with the new bolts they put in lol.

Its best to avoid breaking the stud in the first place:

Wire brush the exposed threads and use penetrating oil before you remove the nut, then use anti-seize when you bolt it back up.

Yeah I definitely took mine to an exhaust shop, it was obnoxiously loud driving it there but I really had no choice. Took them all of 5 minutes to knock out once it was there, I'd just call ahead.

I'll revive this thread because this happened to me and I fixed it while it was on the car (on a lift). I used an air hammer to knock out both studs, then replaced them with bolts. They were soaked with penetrating oil which may have helped.. It was a pain in the ass but with my buddy's help (he held the down pipe stable) we got them out in a few minutes.

Have any of you broken this bolt? Is this the one you're talking about? I broke it installing a new rear motor mount. Any advice on how to fix it (and pictures) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Drill it out and then put in a new bolt ..nut and maybe some washers with high temp Nickel anti-seize.
