The site is running extremely slowly

Had about 36 hours where I could not log in due to a Cloudflare error and/or my IP Address being banned. Just posting this to update the staff, not trying to complain, we've all got a lot going on.

Don't know about the time frame, but it wasn't just you. Got this July 1st about 2100 hours EDT.

Yeah I’ve been working on fixing the issue since yesterday. Apparently there were tons of bots hitting the site yesterday which basically overloaded the database.

The Cloudflare thing seems to have helped. It can require some tweaking as I have seen on the miata.net forum.

Yep, site loads more like every other site now. I have been greeted by a passive test that stays up for a split-second but not every time.

Curious about the size of the db, hardware specs on the server. Storage prices have increased while RAM prices unfortunately are insane; should be shipped by armored truck.

Our server isnt that large. 2TB, 16 Cores and 64GB RAM.

We probably don't say this enough, but we really appreciate you managing the website. It's a good car forum, I have gotten a lot of helpful information on here and have really enjoyed it through my 10 years of ownership.

Wow okay. Assuming healthy HDDs (good SMART stats) that would take some doing to overload. Very interesting...

I have to enter twice to force the site.

Perhaps not. Wasn't long after this I saw the bot test message... and it said 'waiting on the site'.
Were the bot test settings relaxed? Have they found ways through?
Some entity training their bots by trying to pull the database? Under attack from Fora related entity?
I don't understand what anyone else would have to gain from crippling a car forum site.
