Total Noob coilover question

If I were to purchase coilovers that would completely replace the stock shocks and springs correct? And in your guys opinions are nice after market coilovers such as the ones found at modbargains, an upgrade from stock? Or just different?(lower, different ride, etc)

Correct, coilovers will replace both the struts and springs. I've been extremely happy with my BC Racing coilovers and it's a huge difference over stock.
