this filter is fully shielded and is nowhere near a place you could pull water in unless you went through deep water over 12-14"
nothing wrong with adding the sock, just isn't needed in this case

The person I bought it from was pretty clear it can get wet in a heavy rain because it did to him. I always use a prefilter on Any type of open filter anyway for my peace of mind. That’s all I’m saying.
