anyone figure out a way to plug the lines to prevent destroying the rest of the system with debris? plugs, block off plates etc? thanks.
btw compressor seized over the winter and not prepared dollar wise to repair it.
For future reference, one way you can keep your A/C compressor healthy over the winter is to run it once a week or so for 10 minutes. The reason is that there is a lubricant in the refrigerant. Running it will circulate this through and help keep the seals from drying out, which can happen if it isn't used for a long time over the winter.
There could be plenty of reasons besides this that yours seized up, but this is a good preventive maintenance thing in general to do to keep your compressor healthy.
You don't have to freeze yourself to death running the A/C in the winter, you can have the temperature on a warm setting, just push in the A/C button to activate the compressor.
