The wrench light on a Ford Fiesta, accompanied by "service engine now" message, indicates a powertrain fault and requires immediate professional inspection. Common causes include issues with the throttle control, transmission, or axles.
What the lights mean
Wrench light: This light signifies a problem with the vehicle's powertrain, which includes the engine, transmission, and drivetrain components like the axles.
"Service engine now" message: This is a critical alert telling you that a problem has been detected and you should stop driving to get the vehicle serviced immediately.
Powertrain fault: The combination of these indicators means the vehicle has entered "limp home mode," which limits engine power to prevent further damage, and you should seek immediate service
