3M Paint Defender Spray Film or similar

Since I am still waiting for my FiST it allows me to entertain and review things that I may want to do. Currently I'm focusing on how to protect the front areas from the road hazards, sand, salt (daily driver), rocks, etc.. I know I will require something as my current Aveo 5 door has plenty of evidence of issues. The SUVs like the Edge and the Explorer had some issues but not as bad and always were able to fix with a little touch up of heavy wax/bug deflector.

I do not have the patience nor talent to install a clear film bra myself so I have been reviewing other options like Platidip, 3M spray and vinyl wrap (3m with the air release technology).
1- The 3M spray seems to be a good option for an enexpensive winter solution that needs to be redone every year, easy to remove (even if not peel-able use windex type cleaner)
2- Plastidip seems to be an option but a clear solution is not as cost effective therefore I would pay the extra and do the clear bra.
3- The vinyl seems very easy due to the air release technology but not sure on the effectiveness of protecting nor the challenges around the grill. As well not really available in clear so would definitely look like a bra.

So I ask yous any though and opinions based on what you have encountered?

A few online reviews of the 3m stuff I've read (forums & blog such as: http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1084925_3m-paint-defender-tested-does-diy-paint-protection-work) say they don't apply evenly. May need a thicker coat if for the hood and front of car. Some like to use it as temp. protection for say... a track day.

No personal experience with the spray on but I looked into it. Lots of online reviews say it looks like shite. I figured since exotics use the 3m film it must be better.

Ya I've read a lot more last night. I think I will try Plasti Dip since it seems to be easy enough to apply&remove and inexpensive. I was more concern leaving it as the base colour to which I was looking for clear. Plasti Dip does have some clear and glossifiers to make it somewhat shinier (if you are talented which I am not). But I saw a couple of ideas and I think doing a basic matte clear for the bumper area in the summer and a black (or other colour) for the bumper, hood and rockers for the winter might be fun. Still looking around and seeing what is available.
