What kind of sound would a transmission make if it were having a Syncro problem?

I have a lot of noise coming from my transmission. Especially in 1st and 2nd.

I know. Its under warrenty and I will take it to the dealership. [sad]

What should I say to the service department at Ford?

What shouldn't I say to Ford?

Probably gear whine and loud linkage. My 1 to 2 shift sounds pretty bad, and there is gearbox whine, but everything is fine. Ask them to check the fluid, see if its in bad shape, and check the linkage. Its probably nothing.

There is no whine

Clunk Clunk Clunk, Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack Clack CLack Clack, Slows down as I slow down.

Its like the clutch plate has play when im shifting,

and then there is a ratcheting sound that speeds up and slows down with vehicle speed. Clack Clack Clack Clack.

Clunk Clunk when shifting from gears.

same sound as when the engine is running, transmission neutral and you try to put it in gear without depressing clutch pedal. Clunk. 2nd - clunk.

depress clutch, all good.

Accelorate, no noise.

press clutch, Clunk, OUt of gear, Clunk Clunk, Into Gear, Clunk.

Accelorate - No noise.

Clutch, move to nutral- Clack Clack Clack as the vehicle slows down.

Put a little pressure against the a gear with the shifter, but not in gear, and the noise stops.

Its very audible and loud outside the vehicle. If I was driving by people, they would actually look to see what the noise is. But Now I have to roll in neutral and put pressure on the shifter to stop the noise.

If it's that audible, take a video and post it. While I do enjoy your written version of the noises, actual noises would work better haha

It'd hard to tell the road noise from anything else. I thought I heard a clunk as you got on it coming out of a turn? Mine clunks loudly if I shift 1st-2nd going wot, pretty sure that's the rmm.

I will make a better video for the tranny sound. That footage I posted was the shortest I had for a faster upload. I will make one for the noise in my quiet neighborhood, when Im NOT Cali Nurbgurgring.

But until then, check back later this evening. I will have some of the Mountain Footage put together from the Observatory ST/ Mount Hamilton run.

You can hear the noise when I shift into 2nd at the beginning of this video.

I like what you did with the camera switching. Now all you need is a nice exhaust with a little growl to spice things up a bit:)

I can hear that clunking sound in your video, but to me it sounds more like a suspension clunking sound. I would take it to a Ford dealer and get the shop foreman to go for a ride with you so that you can try and show the sound to him.

The PCH run is going to have several angles : Driver view, door handle view, looking back, front grill....I can get creative and make this a short film. End. fin.
