DEARBORN, Mich. -- Ford Focus RS 2.3-liter EcoBoost? I-4 engine has earned the prestigious 2017 Ward?s 10 Best Engines Award -- the first time the specially engineered engine has taken home a prize.

A single turbocharged, twin-scroll high-output engine, the Ford 2.3-liter EcoBoost delivers 350 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque achieved with 93-octane fuel. It features a bevy of tricks up its sleeves in order to offer a premium driving experience, including four different drive modes. The Focus RS also pioneers the innovative Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive system with Dynamic Torque Vectoring for class-leading cornering speed and unsurpassed driver enjoyment. Impressive engine output comes courtesy of an all-new, low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger with a larger compressor wheel that delivers more airflow and power throughout the rev range taking the Focus RS from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds.

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost is also available on the 2017 Mustang churning out 310 horsepower and 320 pounds-feet of torque.

Deserves this, great factory engine with awesome potential. I still have the RS on my mind even though a FiST suits my commute best. We will see what the next Gen turns out to be but a FoRS will always be in the back of my mind if I start getting bored with the FiST.

Besides not knowing how the new 3.5 EB performs, I consider the 1.6 EB, 2.3 EB and the Voodoo are the best engines Ford makes at this time. There is no doubt Ford is putting out some amazing engines and you could even add something like the 1.0 EB to the list.

The 3.5 EB has an impressive endurance racing record for being so new. Couple years in Ford Daytona prototypes and plenty of wins before appearing in the new Ford GT, which took its class at Le Mans this year.

Ummmmm.... cough.... AMG 2.0L makes more power with less displacement. Like 382hp vs 350hp with 10% smaller engine.
