Installation doesn't seem bad, plus the sound is awesome compared to the semi-truck air compressor sound of the Boomba one.
The sound is much nicer.

So, I went and bought one and I installed it and the fist is idling fine but the blow off sounds nothing like this. It flutters a lot more than in the video. Tried adjusting it and it still sounds the same.

Just installed mine today, I *was* having the same problem. I was turning the silver nipple on top of the cap instead of the cap, dumb me. After I adjusted the actual cap, my BOV works super duper and sounds like the video. I heard from a prior thread that the BOV is setup from the factory, but that was not true in my case. Mine was at the 'hardest' position out of the box. The BOV would not 'pop off', even at higher pressure as in videos. It was allllll flutter with just a micro-squeak of pop off at higher boost. My BOV is currently set at 2 or 3 turns from full soft/O-ring showing and 'pops off' anything above 5psi and idle is stable. It still flutter a little bit at mid-rangeboost, but audibly the BOV still pops off. I love the sound compared to the Boomba spacer. ******I could not loosen the cap via hand!!![:(!] A MacGyver concoction of dishrags, a vise and Channel locks let me loosen the cap finally. See attached picture for what I'm talking about. Let me know if I can be of any other help.

In addition to the information above, take apart the BOV and lube it up. Mine wasn't lube out of the box and the piston had some wear on it from a days drive. Lubing the piston helped immensely!

Is the lube included?

I did some tuning and testing with these parts if anybody is interested in seeing the results! If you are having Surging issues with your TS BOV, try unbolting it and pointing the internal release away from your compressor wheel (basically 7-8 oclock if you are looking at the front of the BOV). You can also take apart the BOV and lube the piston up with normal engine oil before assembly. It fixed my surging issues!

In the video, are you running an aftermarket intake? My Injen intake gives a little bit of a choo choo in addition to the PSSSTT of the actual valve. I emailed Turbosmart and they said is a characteristic of the 50recirc/50vta type of BOV and that it is nothing to worry about. I came from the Boomba BPV spacer and 'blowoff' sound at the the slightest lift of throttle got to me after a years, especially in tight autocross courses lol!

Odd, at high RPM it just makes a PSSST sound but at low RPM it flutters when you let off the throttle. I love the flutter sound, wish it had that sound no matter the RPM range.

Yes, it is our prototype intake that I will be sharing information in our R&D thread which can be found in my signature below. I could imagine, the factory BPV is electronically controlled as I'm sure you know so it will open the second throttle is lifted. The Turbosmart BOV is great because it isn't as sensitive and can't be used for torque control like the factory BPV can.

Unfortunately the flutter is compressor surge which isn't ideal for the turbo. Low turbo speed flutter (1-5psi of boost) isn't terrible but still not good, but high boost flutter can damage you turbo pretty quickly. I also like the sound of flutter but I cringe with a smile when I hear it. haha.

Oh that's what the search function is for. Ha. You can close if you want BoostBumps.

Does anyone else's whistle when building boost? The pitch of the whistle sound gets higher as the boost pressure climbs. Also when it blows off it sounds like the spring inside is expanding and contracting rapidly for a second or so, is that normal? I just installed it this afternoon after removing the Boomba spacer. It definitely sounds better, that's for sure, the strange noises are just a bit disconcerting.

As an aside, I tightened up all of the clamps on the hot side charge pipe and I seem to be getting about .5 psi more boost pressure now.

I took a video to demonstrate the whistling noise that's being made as boost pressure builds. I have now set the BOV to basically the lowest it will go without having a rough idle, as explained in the installation video from earlier in the thread. It might just be my 2JR intake that's causing the noises this thing makes to be that much louder than normal. Anyone else run this with the 2JR intake and confirm theirs also sounds like this?

Too much road noise to be certain, but seems normal.

It sounds cleaner. The 2J intake sounds like a big rig PSHHHHH, while your car with the BOV added sounds more like PEWWWWW.
