There is a proper way to install these seals and the improper way to install the seals I've been told by a technician who did mine...one got the drip to clarify this.Weeping is normal it's the drip that must be worried about....nothing is totally leak proof either.

Just changed oil on my 2016 and noticed that the driver's side axle seal looks like it could be leaking. Would you guys label this as "weeping", or actually leaking? It's a 2016 purchased back in July 2016 with only 1080 miles on the clock. Since it's still under warranty, I could just take it in and have them look at it, but I wanted your guy's opinion in case they'd come back and say it's normal.

The official stance is "weeping" as in localized and not spread to the shaft or the casing is "normal". Replacement of those would be up to how convincing the shop foreman is with corporate... at least that was the case for me where I had the passenger side leaking and driver side slightly less so.

Bumping this cause my brand new 17 has been leaking since day one. At 1400 miles now and I'm debating when to bring it in to see if it'll stop itself

When I took my 2017 in they said that it was a loose drain plug, and also said that car has modifications so we don't know who's been under there to which I replied Yes, I installed exhaust on the car, but that has nothing to do with the axles and is this drain plug above the axles?.....Without an answer, he said they added dye in the fluid to see if any more comes out and come back in a week. I decided to wait until after my vacation drive, so it's now been 4 weeks, and I got under to take a look and the seals have an orange/yellow dye coming out of them, so I'll be going back in a couple of weeks when I'm on vacation again. I've had many new cars and this is the first to "weep" and I don't like it. Especially if I plan on lowering it and adding a RMM, (of which I have both at home ready to install) they will surly blame it on those if I take it in after they are installed.

Yeah that's the worst bs I've heard lol seals weep? Fuck no they don't. I work on cars for living and have been under cars working on them since I was 12

Seals do not weep. Now this is my first Ford. So this must be a common thing with you guys but out the thousands of cars I've been under and been fixing axle seals only leak when they need to be changed and notbing out

This is a problem and if you guys believe it's okay for a brand new car to be leaking ant fluid you guys are insane

Update: I dropped the car off on Friday and received word that parts are being ordered to fix the leaking axles, so I'll have it back Tue.-Wed. (I told him that I didn't need the car and to take their time). When I expressed concern about the dealer blaming a RMM or coilovers (which I've yet to install) the new service writer that I'm working with said it won't be an issue. So same dealer just a different service writer, who actually took interest in my plans etc. for the car and who I am, before accusing me of trying to rip them off.

Bringing mine back for seals again. Leaking even worse now. While doing my last oil change I noticed trans fluid buildup all around and even on the rmm. Seals where dripping wet, driver's side worse then the other. Getting sick of this car. Last month my master cylinder went out.

It's a god damn installation problem...I don't know how many times I have to say this....there are alot of Techs or lube guys installing them wrong....I've been told this by a friend and another master Tech....if they get installed right instead of half assing them ...they last.

Is there something going over how to correctly install them to pass along to my technician? Also is there a new part available that has been revised?

My passenger side was leaking after my rebuild (I blame pulling the axle in and out 3 times to get to an oil leak) I replaced with oem seal. Still leaked, I replaced again with Ford own seal... Leaked again. I ordered the mountune diff installation kit with seals, no leaks. The is a difference in what I bought from Ford and what mountune sold me. Just hate spending $120 for a seal and having all the diff bolts and bearings left over...

Update on my issue - The dealer acknowledges the driver's side axle leak is weeping and will put dye in, have me drive around for about 1k miles, and then come back to diagnose where the leak is coming from.

Did the same thing with mine, they fixed it, and within 1000 miles, looks the same as before. Think I'm just going to accept that they will always leak. But I would encourage others to try and fix it.

I'd honestly rather add oil the see a mess when I go under my new car

And if it burns I'd constantly know my oil level is good cause I'd always be adding lol
