I went on 50resto.com and found 17x8 saleen style wheels for cheap. They're +19, so they're aggressive fitting on our cars. I want to run 205/40s.

Anyone else running mustang wheels or attempted to run them?

Even with 205/40's they're not going to fit; that's outside of the wheel well.

+30 is "flush". +19 will be 1.1cm of "poke". For me that is "no go".

So I hit up the local junkyard and found some OE '93 Cobra wheels:
- 17x7.5
- +40.9

I can have them for less than $175.... What to do...??...???!

I've seen several people running them now. They have to roll the fender (poorly) to make it work and the tires end up ultra stretched on top of it. Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Not a chance in hell unless you're going for that hellaflush ricey look.

I personally wouldn't bother unless they were at least slightly lighter than stock (22.5lbs). I also wonder if such an "old" wheel design is compatible with "modern" TPMS sensors. Probably not an issue, if I had to guess.

But if you like the look, and they aren't super heavy, <$175 a set for 0.5" additional width is nearly impossible to beat.
