Well just when I thought it was good it's not, I did the update followed the instructions pulled the drive after it said update completed turned the car off etc. left it for 30 mins it still showed version 1. I drove it home left it for over 24 hours fired up the car today and checked and it still shows version 1. So now I'm wtf ??

Updated mine from the unofficial 2.2. I have the Nav.

I'm on a mac and used a 16gb USB drive. When I first unzipped the folder downloaded from owner.ford.com the folder setup was not correct and update would not run.
after unzipping download it looked like:

autoinstall.lst
DONTINDX.MSA
SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AA.tar.gz
SyncMyRide\HB5T-14G386-TCB.tar.gz
SyncMyRide\HN1T-14G381-SA.tar.gz
SyncMyRide\HN1T-14G391-CC.tar.gz
SyncMyRide\HN1T-14G423-CA.tar.gz

I fixed this by creating a SyncMyRide folder and copying the tar.gz files to that folder, then removed SyncMyRide\ from the files names.
After this the update ran without a problem.

This is the same thing the dealer told me. The upgrade completed, but next time the car started it showed version 1. I am getting my sync head unit replaced as a next troubleshooting step. This upgrade has been the most massive pain in the ass ever, but as long as it works in the end it's better than not getting the update at all.

Ok, (hopefully!) final update. Dealer replaced the head unit under warranty after determining it was defective. New head unit running v2.2 installed successfully. New features work great!

That's good news and probably my next thing, I tried a reset and doing the files like 4Shades and still version 1 and now it won't sync to my iPhone ugh

I suspect that the system updates itself incrementally. (peep the "build number" not just the version)
This may be why it says, update successful, but nothing appears to be different after the reboot.

The WiFi download stalled and never had the patience to see whether it would ever un-stall itself after a few reconnects.

https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/sign-in.html (acquired download from there)

I used a 16GB generic USB drive formatted with the ExFAT file system. The flashdrive has a USB3 interface but that won't necessarily mean anything.
Even if all of the 7Zip files were extracted back to the drive into temporary folders, there would still be tons of space left on a 16GB.

The first attempt at update reported success. Version number was still 1.0. The build number could've incremented but I wasn't paying that much attention.

Second attempt, days later, just hopped in the car, never hitting the Start button, unplugged other USB devices, plugged in the flash drive, then turned on the radio.

During the update, spent some time interacting with Sync, just to maybe avoid having it shutoff. Another Update Successful.

Hit the Sync power, waited for power "off", then hit Sync power again to boot it back up.

Version now reads 2.x.

Hit power again to shut it down and went back in the house; vehicle was never started.

There have been a few hiccups so far, like the audio module temporarily freezing/crashing.

Update installed now Android Auto doesn't work and keep getting "voice recognition not ready" message. So frustrating how it worked and now nothing does.

Does anyone know if the download on the original post works for the 2016 Focus ST as well as the Fiesta?

It probably works but it's an earlier build. If you want the official release, there are a couple links to the Ford servers on the focus RS forum. I used it for my fiesta and it appears to work fine.

Ok, so I called my local dealership for the new USB hub. The guy said after looking up my VIN that the part number is:

GC3Z-19A387-C (previous version was -A)

This is of course different than the
HC3Z-19A387-B
GJ7Z-19A387-B
that I see elsewhere in this thread. I can of course pull all 3 up in Tasca's website but it doesn't offer any advice. Has any one else noticed this?

I bought GJ7Z-19A387-B at the dealership because that's the only one they had. I believe it is for a Lincoln, but the only difference I noticed is the lights are white instead of blue.

Logged onto owner.ford.com just now for shits and giggles and the official v2.2 update is available! Took them long enough. Glad i didn't wait lol. So those on the fence about using the F150 files can just setup the WiFi in their cars and let the update run.

You can't just "let the update run", you have to wait for your car to be on the list to be updated. Some of us have been waiting a while. Others have got theirs. I check everyday but no update yet.

Agreed I'm still waiting as well, it's annoying taking this long though

If there's demand, I can download it and just host it online. VIN numbers shouldn't matter as it's the official Fiesta update directly from Ford.

just downloaded and updated today - got the download from the owner.ford.com site.
biggest thing i noticed, us a windows pc to unzip the file, tried it on my macbook first and it messed up the file arrangement unzipping it. did it on my pc and had no issues, update took between 15-20 min on my sync3 with nav.
