I shouldn't have any rubbing issues with 215 40 17 though the one above as a slightly wider tire.

...and anyone else...

I'm very close to pressing the BUY IT button on a set of 17x8 Grids.....I have 215/40/17 Federals they will be paired with...

Can you guys post a few pics of the car/wheels from a diagonal angle? I want to see how far the rim is sticking out if at all before I purchase. Just wondering how bad rock chips are going to be and if the tire with my +1 size will protect the rim at all. I looked into ordering 17x7.5 which they do make but it's special order and takes 2 months and the folks on the other end of the Rota customer service line sound like mafia so I'm a bit reluctant to go that route, plus if I ever damage one it will be forever to get a replacement...so I'm going with the 17x8. Love this wheel, just need some peace of mind before I spend the money. I'm hoping with the +1 tire it won't have that stretched look and will have at least some protection for the wheel.

The more pics the better, I really appreciate it! If it's easier to text them PM me and I'll send you my cell phone number.

Here is an angle pic of my Rotas in the same size, 17 x 8 and 40 offset with 215/40/17. Federals will be a bit wider.

BIG thanks to you both especially Senor who sent me a dozen good pics.

I researched up and down, called Rota USA, the bottom line is the 17x7.5 have to be special ordered and I don’t want to pay extra and wait 2 months plus if something happens and I need a replacement I’m screwed.

Ordered the 17x8 grids last night.

Hyperblack. My car is the Tux Black, the hyperblack is more of a grey, I've been obsessed with the black/grey combo on cars for many years now.

Feels good to have finally purchased something. I must have looked at 300 sets of wheels. So many are not longer available, others are just too expensive. For my budget and preferences it came down to Hypergrams or Titans or Grids, and after looking at a zillion pictures side by side I kept coming back to the Grids.

Once they get here I'll be waiting a few weeks to install (after a road trip, don't want to take my new wheels away for a week) but after that I'll install and start a new thread with a zillion pictures to help others with the questions I had.

I have looked at the hyper black rotas on ebay alot. It seems in the listings pics the 18s go almost black at an ange witch I like. The 16s not near as much. I wanted a 16x8 witch they have in 4x108 but the back spacing is 25 so they won't fit. Now it's down to 16x7 to 17x8. It sucks because I want wider and more sidewall.
