If they cut it in the middle and added a silicone coupler for more adjustment, or mounted it to the posts that normally hold the crossover it'd be much more stable.
that's a good idea. i was wondering how i was going to deal with the buzzing come that time.

Yeah search around, I made a post on it as have a few others. It's not all fun and games, especially if you have a *2016 or newer.
FTFY, but they also say right in the description the Cobb evap fix is recommended (required to have some fix) and works well with it, so not TOO big of a deal... For me, this would just be straight up WAY too loud for the small gains over a crossover, induction hose and drop in, but definitely literally sounds cool for those who like intake noise! :)

Since there aren't any instructions and nobody really posts much about their install experiences, I can only go from mine - but near as I can tell the thing thats supposed to stop the intake from flopping around is wedging it into the cowl area so tight it won't flop around. I was able to mitigate a bit of it by putting a K&N offroad filter wrap (large pore open celled foam) around the filter, that held it fairly well in place, but the cowl still vibrated. I'd really like to see photos or videos of someone else's install, because I don't think there's a "right" way to install it, you just kinda wedge it in and go. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take so much work to get back in there and adjust it.

Since nobody really talks about theirs, I also don't know if the strong oil smell in the passenger compartment is normal each time the diverter "blows off".

Yeah I have the cobb evap fix, the PCV still whiffs oil smell out through the filter when it blows off though.

Interesting! So Ford made it a dual hose for emissions reasons mostly? I know that the '14-'15 evap setup kinda sucks anyway, so for some like me I'm being super cautious and will likely just do the Mountune induction hose since a 2JR is too loud for me anyway, but it's not like the '14-'15 OEM harness will fit a 2JR anyway, so you make a good point about not an ideal intake for '16+ in general... Good info to know man!

Start at 8:21 for the install

If you want to hear how the 2j sounds

It is an amazing machine, gets a ton of attention at track days because its a volvo station wagon passing corvettes, bmws, and caymans. I miss having a manual though, that is one thing I wish I had in the polestar.
I'm so tempted in getting one,

Do plan on getting another 2jr intake since I sold my last one.

You know what I've noticed, nobody seems to just keep it. Whomever buys it in the used for sale forum ends up re-selling it and that person doesn't install it and re-sells it and so on. I want it in my car but I don't want to deal with the install. Gonna wait and see if I find one cheap enough for sale and pay someone in my area of southern california to install it.

I have one and it’s cool, it just... if I was in my 20’s and got the FiST used I’d be totally happy. I’m almost 40 and my FiST is immaculately clean (except gravel-rashed wheels) so the... “ramshackle” installation and sort of half-assed fit and finish is a turn off. If it was a track car or a weekend toy I’d love it, but I bought the car to use as a daily to keep miles off of other cars. It really does sound neat for 15-20 minutes at a time but it’s a pain in the ass on long trips at 70-75mph into a headwind or up an incline. If you can take your headlights out on your own, you’re over halfway done with the install. I think an oil catch can is probably a good idea because my 2j filter was oily after just 1000 miles and was starting to leave oil in my cowl area. Just FYI, it’s LOUD and nearby cops will definitely hear it. With how CA is and is headed, I don’t see this stuff getting less ridiculous in terms of enforcement. Doesn’t matter that all the lines route for the emissions system, 2j didn’t pay the 10,000 dollar yearly CA tax to get it carb approved so you’ll always be dicked.

I put mine back on since I can reinstall/remove it in about 40 minutes now. It still sounds cool, I tamed the most annoying harshness (and some of the vibration) by putting a K&N offroad foam prefilter around it (which should also significantly lengthen the service interval. I padded the area around where it'll be installed with mass damping foam, added mass damping foam to both upper and lower cowls, and added more damping around the tube-to-cowl interface to "seal" it. It's dryer ducting foam so it's relatively high temp but I'd like to find something better suited to "near-turbo" temperatures under the hood just for safety's sake (at least before it hits 100f plus here).

It still bugs me that it kinda thunks around when starting the car. Bead-rolling the places where you clamp it would've made the product "feel" a lot better. As-is, I'm paranoid about the filter sliding off the end of the pipe once a little oil vapor gets in between the K&N filter and the aluminum tube. If this thing were made almost entirely of silicone a lot of the annoying vibration would probably go away too, though I don't know if it's worth it to 2JR for such a niche product. (though, once you do the initial tooling for preformed silicone tubing, production is a lot easier). If anyone's interested, it doesn't appear to be tig welded, it looks like it was aluminum mig welded with a spool gun, and I'd recommend brushing out the inside before installation due to some almost-loose aluminum bits where the smaller tubes penetrate the main one. A right-angle elbow for the PCV hose will make your installation a lot cleaner, too.
