The V6 GT2 is so nice though! Had a chance to drive one at a test drive event and was blown away, especially at its price point.

Oh I definitely believe you. Just a little too pricey for me. I'm big on trying to pay off my house early and save for retirement and so forth, so I don't like to have a massive car expense.
It's not just the price of the car is the consumables. I'll have to get a separate set of wheels for it I can't run summer tires all year round, it uses more gas etc. The car would be for my wife so it would just be a daily driver.
Having all wheel drive would prevent my wife from having to rent a vehicle when she drives up to upstate New York every other year around Christmas time. The Vehicles we have now are worthless in the snow without a snow tire, but a good all season tire with all-wheel drive seems to do well when she's up there in a rental. Of course I may want her to get a rental to prevent wear and tear and salt.
So long story short the GT model with all-wheel drive is to expensive.
Right now she drives a 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback. The 2-liter turbocharged engine will be a big step up in power.
I don't plan on purchasing a vehicle until 2022 of course circumstances change like a vehicle getting totaled.
