There should be a minimum federal paint warranty/manufacturers defect of 7yr/70k....IMO.

I agree. You honestly shouldn’t be getting rust anytime before 100k miles tbh.

The simple fix is just don't buy another Ford product. Ford just has terrible fit and finish issues. But I agree there should be mandates on warranties for all aspects of a car especially with how much they cost today. Manufacturers should really send surveys to customers who have had the car for a few years to try and improve things. Shame on them for not doing so.

After two weeks of waiting since starting a claim with Ford for the paint defect, I got the answer that they will fix the paint damage on the hood of the car but not the bubbling paint on the tailgate due to the fact that they said it is normal for paint to bubble on Cauk !! I am extremely disappointed in Ford!!!!

I got the phone call today they approved fixing the paint that's missing on the hatch, and the bald spot under the hood. I don't fully know what they're going to do.
Either way at least I won't have any naked spots.

Was the RS due to paint issues too or something else? And I have a feeling these paint issues are one of the main reasons they stopped making cars. Not only that but the mechanical problems their cars have. Yes cars aren’t selling well but other manufacturers continue to make cars and not just kill them all off like Ford has. Veloster N was a good choice tho!

they didn’t stop making cars at all... just stopped selling them in the US. The rest of the world gets the latest-generation Fiesta and Focus that we’ll never see here in the States.

I got my car back today good news and bad news.
Good news the paint that was peeling off the hatch that was visible from the outside, and the paint that was missing from underneath the hood has been fixed. The paint work matches perfectly.

Bad news the minor bubbling of paint underneath the hatch was not covered basically said it was normal bullcrap.

The body shop has never seen a fiesta with paint issues before, but they did tell me that the products that are using aluminum body panels are seeing some corrosion issues. So Ford definitely does have some paint issues.

The hatch issue makes no sense if you have paint peeling and bubbling just re-paint the whole thing... they like to do minimal work at Ford for some reason.

Glad paint matches and all is well. (y)

The bodyshop did an amazing job on my hatch and underneath my hood.

The little middle panel where its rubbing and scraping on the hatch I'm just gonna deal with until I find a better fix. I touched it up with paint and clear bra but the clear bra started peeling

Yeah, both the dealer, and the body shop also brought up the aluminum panel paint problems as well, probably since that is ALL they see with 99.999% of all Ford customers buying ONLY their trucks and road tanks.

Since the paint has started to bubble once again, on the area around the antenna where they already 'fixed' it, they are going to re-paint the WHOLE roof for me (vs. just painting the small area, and shooting the whole roof with clear, as was done initially), and therefore, by process, fix the few small chips in it which caused some 'fish eyes' from the clear spray. [:)]

This of course will do NOTHING for all of the other panel seam bubbles I am seeing, and have still not heard back from the dealer/Ford about. [:(]

That's cool about the roof getting painted.
The paint warranty is 5 years that gives me till spring of 2022. I guess I will have to wait until the entire underside of the hatch bubbles and paint falls off.

But at least the exterior is in good shape.

So my car is going in tomorrow for round two of trying to get paint right after hood replacement and rear 1/4 being painted like complete shit. Today it was decent out so thought would do a good cleaning of car before drop off to find this shit. Couple months ago it had some slight bubbles. So again f*ck ford. Been dealing with paint issues on my car for entire time of ownership. Pretty sad for car not even being two years old to have to have body panels replaced etc. 95E2BDB8-FC18-403B-A7C1-6090FB4445E7.jpeg

Just wanted to add my own experience with respect to this issue. Have a low mile 2017 Fiesta ST and discovered hem rust under the hood (on both sides) when detailing the car. I searched this website and came across this post that pointed out other problem areas, and sure enough, I discovered hem rust on my rear hatch and 3 of the doors. My car is still under warranty until October this year, so I made an appointment with my Ford dealer (they have an in-house body shop) to get this documented and submitted for warranty repair/replace. Long story short, Ford replaced the hood, hatch, and 3 doors. They also paid for my car rental (Ford F150 crew cab with 5.0) for the week and a half that the repair took. Was really impressed that they didn't fight this at all given the significant costs involved. The paint match was perfect too.
