Poll: CD Player - ever use it ?

The CD player offers the highest quality signal in our stock system. USB/MP3 is ok for background noise. Music enjoyment.....CD Player. Bump and Thump fans are happy with MP3, I am not. So we have an all purpose system!

AMAZED that anyone at all on here is on 'my side' on this, but yes, thanks!
Sometimes having an actual better sound outweighs the 'shame' and ridicule cast upon those still using so called "out-dated technology", and the supposed 'convenience' of the newer tech.

I'm not against you on this...rather I rarely use my cd player simply because streaming playlists from my phone is much more convenient and has better variety at the touch of a finger but I do listen to my cds every once in awhile and agree that it has the best sound.

I don't personally have a problem with either preference, rather I like that we are at least given the option to choose what we would prefer to use.

I never use mine. Nor did I ever try it in my 2013 FoST. I have every song I’ll ever need on my phone/YouTube.

Never. I have a 32gb usb stick that is super tiny that I leave plugged in 24/7 with my entire music collection. All my friends and my wife stream music via spotify.. I prefer Pandorabut I rarely use that. Seems like when I use Pandora it fails to load unless I am using Android Auto.

I have quite a cd collection but have gotten lazy and just listen to my USB mix. I will make a special effort to try cd play in the FIST to compare sound quality.

CD's have less sampling than cellphone/bluetooth "broadcasts". That is to say the CD's offer higher and lower notes where the broadcast fills in what it measures as "lost in transmission", usually with something pretty flat. And vinyl is even better as M-Sports Fan posts. Of course that song stuck in my head (often Gilligan's Island) remains annoying.

I've had 1 cd in my car for the past 3 or 4 years! Usually listen to my music off a 64gb usb. But every once in a while, I'll select CD and listen to Friday soundtrack!

Not using this to play anything from the cell phone. I have 250GB HDD plugged into the USB ports inside the console for that. For some of the freely distributed music I've downloaded recently, I've noticed a lot of clipping. This is because the original studio quality audio was either 24-bit or 32-bit. They then made the mistake of reencoding it to CD Quality 44100Hz 16-bit audio before redistributing.

Yup, when I have 200 tread wear tires on in the summer, even on the factory suspension, I can get it to skip on sharp high g turns, yes, even the glass smooth ones.

FYI....a "$50" CD Player will cost you about $1000 in a new Mustang. B&O option only. And we had very little problem finding my wife's choices in a Mustang so those upper tier Mustang owners still want them like we did. Most performance oriented buyers don't spend the $$ on them. If all you want is decent audio using USB most cars stock system will accommodate you. The stock Mustang GT audio is an OK sounding LOUD 9 speaker system without CD. The CD is part of the $1000 optional B&O system. I have been an audio nut since Mono records days, I spent a lifetime building custom speaker systems and audio installation. I prefer home built Vacuum Tube amps and vinyl but most serious listening these days is using Sennheiser headphones and custom IC amps. The sound system in the Mustang brought actual tears on some CD tracks the sound was so accurate and clean. The thing about so called "premium" audio even our Sony in the FiST probably could not be duplicated for the cost we paid and the same with the B&O in the Mustang. Do they compare to a properly set up and equipped sound room .....hell no! The car audio is like everything else in a car, most will never alter it from stock and those that do will alter it with different goals and budgets. This week I received 4 new CD's, Dire Straits, Meatloaf, Bee Gee's and Doobie Brothers. All came with instant downloads so my two audio USB drives and PC plus phone have them as MP3's. Can't wait to hear the CD Dire Straits "Calling Elvis" and "Walk of Life" on the B&O system.

I think you're giving your mustang audio system a little too much credit.
I love music and I love a good sound system. Savagegeese a YouTube reviewer has a sound/audio engineer test basically every audio system and Fords don't do very well including the premium audio system.

I promise you the lexicon 15 speaker audio system in my g70 is better than anything Ford has ever put in a Ford vehicle. Now Lincoln may be completely different.

Bowers and Wilkins in the Volvos are probably some of the best automotive audio systems you can get.

Don't get me started on the Fiesta ST sound system because it sucks and it mostly comes down to the terrible tweeter location, and the fact they said hey no subwoofer for you.

I'd bet that "Telegraph Road" would sound quite phenomenal as well.
(I know it's not on that album, but still.)
