Possible Turbo Failure?

I recently noted that there was some oil on the underside of my X47 turbo. The oil is near the return line but to the left of it, where the compressor and exhaust sides of the turbo are clamped together. Places I checked:

-Intake side of turbo: no oil
-Compressor wheel: minimal play, same as it was when I first got the turbo
-Hot side charge pipe: no oil
Exhaust tips : no oil, although that may be too far away from the source
Oil supply line: entire line and banjo are clean and dry, along with the top of the turbo
Oil return line: gasket seems to be in good shape, although its flimsy to begin with
Oil level: on the low side towards the MIN line, topped it up

So it seems like I'm losing oil, could it be a blown gasket inside the turbo? This turbo has about 8,000km on it and it hasn't really been pushed that hard.

Upon reassembly, the turbo now makes a super high pitched sound when it spools up. I think this could be from potentially not sealing the inlet elbow as well as I hoped, but who knows. Here's the video of the noise:

Appreciate any thoughts or ideas you guys may have.

Did you use Torque specs on the bolts you took out?

Holy fuck thats a loud whine….if i knew nothing and only had video to consider, i would guess the turbo is going or on its way out. I hope im wrong however i cant imagine a whine of that pitch coming from a loose clamp/pipe thus allowing extra air to get pulled in…? Maybe it is doing the balloon type noise and all that air going through such a tiny entrance causes that whine. Hopefully the latter

Negative, since I didnt remove the turbo entirely, getting a torque wrench in there was out of the question. I may need to remove it all again and see whats up.... Any thoughts on the oil on the bottom? I'll get a photo up tomorrow.

That noise seems to be the inlet elbow not sealing right and squealing as you have thought*

Pull your intercooler hoses off the intercooler, if your turbo is blowing oil it will defiantly be in the hoses.
