Hello,

I have my 2014 ford Fiesta ST (Orange molten) since three weeks and I already have two good paint chip on the hood of the stone has been in the way.

I know this can be normal, but I'm starting to believe that the painting is not very strong. I'm not the type to follow the other very close thus increasing the chances of receiving stones close strong.

I was wondering if anyone had something similar, because it makes me scared .... What my hood will look in one year if he loses pieces of paint whenever I gets a little something.

Thanks,

Why not clear bra your cars?
Do you talk about a protective film?

or

Add a new layer of clear paint?

I think a probably instal a protective film on the Hood to protect it.

Either is fine. I personally went with the clear film and did the entire hood and bumper.

I've just been through my first winter with my ST. Calgary is the capital of Canada for stone chips as they use what I would best describe as pea gravel on the roads for winter traction.
I had the entire hood, bumper skin, front pillars and the front part of the roof (stopped just short of the sunroof) covered with 3M film.
I was washing it on the weekend and there is only one rock chip - on the driver's side mirror, that I chose not to cover![crazyeye]

This is what I personally would recommend, I use this commercially and think it's awesome. On the other hand I highly recommend waxing your car too especially paying extra for the paint. Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax is phenomenal. I use it and my paint looks really good, and it protects well along with giving you that deep deep look you want! Check it out at least until you decide whether you want to go with the 3M clear film

They might not paint well, but they sure know how to dump paint sludge in New Jersey!

I also have a Molten Orange ST only about 5 months old with 5500 miles and it has about 8 rock chips the size of a pinhead or bigger on my hood, they seem to be in groups too.

It pissed me off but its ment for driving so thats life.

I travel 70 miles per weekday, here in SoCal, through freeways littered from rocks thrown off by semis transporting gravel. I had my FiST covered with 3M clear bra, over the front and the mirrors. That was my second mod, after tinting the windows, within the first week of purchase. So far the grille seems to be holding up, even though it is not protected (except for paint).

My wife didn't want her's cleared so she has lots of chips on her Focus. I'll also probably need to get a paint pen for her car.

I got a rock or bolt or what ever the f*&( it was that dug out paint to bare metal on my rear passenger door, about an inch or two from the bottom. Soooooo pissed, and something that normally applied clear protectant wouldn't help with. :(

I'll be dropping by the dealership on Monday to get a paint pen..
