Yep, Ford dealers are absolute trash. When I first got my car, I heard a scraping noise when turning. I took it in under warranty and they determined it was rocks in the heat shield and charged me 175 dollars because no parts were replaced. Absolute crooks imo.

Totally 100% agreed! I went in for a clunking noise....it was the RMM torn. The dealer didn't even take it in to look at it or raise it up on the hoist. Wrote me and my complaint off as normal* Went home and raised it up myself. Boom RMM rubber tearing...replaced with a Boomba RMM. No more clunking....Never went back and it was the dealer i bought my car from also. Great buying Exp....absolute Garbage service Experience.

Lol, I worked at a dealership many years ago, and knew all the service advisers there. Their job consisted of BS ing all the customers into unnecessary parts and service that wasn't actually needed. There might have been one honest adviser in the whole crew. They worked on 100% commission as far as I know. The more of a BS artist you were, the more you made. Also, their labor fees were ridiculously high.

Labor fees have nothing to do with being crooks. Every dealer has a high rate
Go call a plumber and see what their min rate is......for something they get done in 15 minutes.

I took the car in to my Ford dealer (not where I bought the fist) for the hatch and door corrosion that starts under the paint. I expected disappointment but to my surprise the dealer assured me she wouldn't have an issue getting it covered by ford under warranty. Sent me to their body shop after digital imaging. Called me while I was at body stating approval is good for my hatch and passenger door. I was to say the least satisfied.

Sitting at 19525. My guess is they can warranty it much easier under the 3yr/36k vs trying to do it with the 5yr corrosion perforation. As I've read other members not being as lucky and my experience seems less of the norm.

Spent 2 years at a Ford Dealer, this is exactly my impression as well, their job is to create work for their techs to milk off of. Only ones worse was the sales staff, they would rip off their own grandmother in a heart beat.

Oh, mark up is guaranteed to be prohibitive. Then they'll turn around and say they canning it because no one's buying a $35k car that their dealers sell for $48k.

The ones around here will be asking more than $50K for it.

Even though mechanically, functionally, and performance wise it would be great for the $35K list, I am just not all that enamored of it's looks, especially that rear bumper area, for any price.

This car seems comparable to the Focus RS or perhaps even better? The all wheel drive system seems interesting. I think the Golf R only drives it’s front wheels until the front wheels slip. The Corolla has a percentage bias at all times from what I understand.

And like the RS, the dealers will kill it by marking it up too much.

I'm okay with a short term mark-up during the first model year or so. Was looking at new Mk8 Golf R in CA dealers and they are marked up 5k at the very least. You throw in your annoying supply chain issues and that's no help at all.

Maybe because Im old, I have the patience to wait a year or so. Now its a few years later and there's still a markup like the CTR or gt350r then no thanks! The GR corolla has the potential to be something special, with the golf r and wrx / sti being the only real competitors and if 35k price is true, then thats a huge plus and would undercut all its competitors and be evenly priced with the veloster n. with the success of the GR Yaris, Toyota is not likely going to mess this one up, or so Id hope.

Well hard to say as we don't know what the widebody treatment looks like. Actually do like some of the nicer bodykits on the corolla hatch. On a unrelated note, wouldn't mind a corrolla hybrid as a daily driver if it came in a hatch.

PLEASE do not use the CTR-like triple middle crap, that looks sooo effing 'jive' to me, and an attempt to copy Honda.

Ah ya well the Japanese automakers do have a habit of mimicking their competitors. I have seen it so many times I would not be the least bit surprised if they brought it out with a triple center pipe design.

yeah also hoping it doesn't have the lame neutered exhaust note as the CTR. Don't get me wrong, I'm a considerate neighbor and have to be mindful of Db limits of some tracks, but at least make it sound like it's not a regular civic.
thank goodness if you don't live in CA it is easier to get a catback.
