I may be wrong, but isn't that adjustment just for sound? I was getting boost spikes with my OEM and the Turbosmart took care of that.

Doubt that will take care of it...it will be louder though. Before the Turbosmart I had the Boomba adapter and I would see spikes up to 25.5 on Cobb Stg.3 OTS map. Clearly that's not normal. Also, I'm not pointing fingers at Boomba because the reality is I did not install the AP prior to their BOV adapter so my OEM BOV could have been faulty. But my need for turbo sound made me try the Kompact Shortie and my boost stays constantly stable for longer and gets there quicker and no more spikes 24Lbs of boost is the highest recorded so far which is acceptable.

My only thing that is making me nervous about buying and putting it on my vehicle now is connector for the stock one. I don't like the way that turbosmart has that connector clips to loop the signal to not cause a light. With my car under warranty and with no protection under the car for lets say water to get onto/into that connectors or on those wires and cause a problem.

That's why I wrapped mine in electrical tape.

Installed my Turbosmart BOV on my car and have constantly been trying to dial out the flutter. Some posts/videos I see state that under low acceleration a light fluter (release pedal no boost) is normal whereas when I'm under boost and release the gas your standard whoosh (no flutter) occurs.

Now I've called up turbosmart support and they say to *soften all the way and dial in* well the manual says not to go past the o-ring . So I ask everyone. Where did they leave theirs dialed in, do you hear any flutter.

Reading PSI I always hit 20-21 with no issue. Ensured everything is tighten.

What do you mean go past the o-ring?

 Start with the BOV cap at the maximum soft position (The indicator O-Ring should be completely covered by the edge of the cap)

So if I were to install this bov with out the little cel eliminator harness could I just turn off the cel with access port race ? I am not the biggest fan of splicing my harness.

The included loop-back adapter does not cause a CEL. It simply clips onto the wires, no cutting required.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Yes, you can turn off the CEL (with AccessPort race tuner) if you don't use the included adapter.

Ok I installed the bov today and managed to turn off the code that came up in accessport race. Any tips on setting this thing up correctly?

With my 2J Intake I can't tell if I'm hearing turbo flutter or the bov making its correct sound lol. I also noticed that most of my part throttle surging issues are gone with the new bov ad well.

Anyone ? I think I had compressor surge this morning, pretty sure I need to soften the settings on the bov thanks for any help guys I don't wanna hurt my stock turbo

I think my Kompact Shortie BOV has a leak, possibly through the gasket it came with. As the RPMs climb there is a very loud whistle that increases in pitch as the boost builds, does anyone else have this issue with theirs? I'm going to take it off this weekend to confirm that it's where my whistle is coming from.

Turns out it's not my BOV but I have a boost leak in my charge pipes, in case anyone was wondering. The BOV functions flawlessly.

I know this is an old thread but I'm new here and new to my FiST. I'm looking at getting one of these for the sound and future upgrade potential, I just wanted to know how you're liking it? Any problems since the install?

Installed Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back yesterday.

Impressions:

Install took me longer than I wished. But I'm the slow and methodical type.
With my open element GGR intake it's actually quieter when putting around town.
On boost release the valve chirps
Out of the box the unit worked fine and no adjustment was needed.
In the first two gears I find it easier to light up the tyres which makes me think the ECU might hold the OEM valve open for torque truncation. (Just a theory I have no proof).
No pics but it's easy to find them.
In all I'm happy with it.
