Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 fitment

I know other LED lights require some trimming of the headlight housing, I was wondering if this was the case with the morimoto 2stroke 2.0s.

Also, are the fans really as loud as the reviews on Amazon say they are?

Honestly, they are nice but just not worth the cost over $40-50 sets, TBH... Check out THIS awesome independent review site that tests bulbs in reflector housings... Note the Morimoto way down in the Premium cost section rankings, you have to click "Load all Premium Kits" just to see them... I personally had them and sold them as I was more impressed with the ones that were under $40 you see at the top of the budget section... As far as noise, you can see they are rated at only 62dB, lower than many others, someone must have had them sealed in a really hot housing or had a defective fan if they think the fans are loud.

So, I tried about a half dozen sets in my reflectors before upgrading to Euro projectors and I can also tell you at 40mm long (size available at that Bulb Facts chart too) that they stuck out the back and you will need domed rear covers if you care, but they are skinny so you won't need to trim the housing opening... BUT, again, I strongly advise going with the Cougar X Small H11 instead for under $50, they have excellent glare control and a big improvement in brightness. And just about all, even "mini" and "X small" LED's usually have a tight fit, the Cougar X Small will be a tight fit in length so when installing be careful and just pull the headlights and maneuver them into place as gently as possible getting that back of the heatsink up against the back housing to make sure you get them in nice and straight...

Thanks for the info. I saw your pose beforehand which is why I decided to go the LED route. I chose the Morimoto because of their reputation, TRS endorsement, and most of all: the color. Most if the cheaper bulbs were too blue for my taste.

As for loudness there were on Amazon, and all the sellers were 3rd party, non-authorized dealers, so I wonder if they were counterfeit units. I ended up ordering directly from TRS.

Right on, I actually was going to mention the color, that is definitely the one good thing they had going for it, but mine ended up a full 5750k and not the 5250k BulbFacts tested their set at, so it was a total wash.. so don't be surprised to notice if they are more blue than you hoped for.. Honestly, I'd go with the DDM Tuning Saber Pro 50w. While the Morimoto run a little warm at 116 degrees, these run at 105 and also have 2900 lux output vs. 2320 on the Morimoto, make sure to look at the *projector* results HERE. They are $95 regular price but can get 10% off by signing up and buying at DDMTuning.com... they also tested at 5250k as well and likely won't end up being more blue than you hoped for like what happened to me with the Morimoto.... I speak from experience, I too was all into the Morimoto 2.0 after TRS came out so strongly for it, and took a loss selling them when I realized they are even better options now.

Edit: Oops, total forgot this wasn't one of my Euro projector threads, so in reflectors the light output difference is 6200 lux for the DDM Tuning and only 4350 on the Morimoto.
