Water meth injection questions

Hi everyone,

I have an s280 on stock fuel running 93. I'd like to install a WMI kit for cooling, valve cleaning and some extra HP/torque when I'm really on it. I'm unsure of how people have these kits set up, only see that it starts spraying at a certain boost pressure and maxes out at another set boost pressure. Valve cleaning is of greater importance to me because I have a super short commute.

How should I set up WMI with this in mind? Do tuners account for those who want the cleaning effect at lower rpms and lower boost? Can I turn the system on/off for this purpose to conserve the water/meth mixture or does it need to be permanently on since there will be a specific map for it? Of course I don't want to go through the mixture too quickly, so perhaps I should just have it set for higher boost and gun it more often, but please let me know what your experiences have been like. It would also be great if I can get more torque a bit lower down at partial throttle since I do a lot of city driving. Again, that would mean greater consumption presumably.

Thanks

I finished my snow kit install last week....only issue I have is that I am waiting on the meth charge pipe before I can use it, otherwise it is all plumbed and wired and spray has been checked (I angled it so it would shoot my windshield lol)
No tune is needed for cleaning but without a tune you will see no performance gain. That said, if the rpm's or boost pressure are too low, you could hydrolock your engine and I would not recommend this.
You will need to switch between tunes (one for meth and one without) depending on whether you turn the spray off or on.

I've heard this before that you can run it without a tune, of course I want the performance benefit. But it's really okay to shoot a 50/50 mix in whenever if all you want is cleaning? So if you set it to spray on high boost with no tune, it won't mess anything up?

Also, did you get the CPE pipe? The whoosh pipe is out of stock, and don't know if I want to spend 240 for that CPE pipe so I may just have a bung welded into the stock one.

Nope, it won't mess anything up. I am almost certain you could actually run straight water if boost and rpms are high enough.
I already have mishimoto hot and cold charge pipes but I didn't want to fart around with welding anything so I just bit the bullet and ordered the CPE pipe....just waiting for it to ship.

I have a black whoosh pipe that didn’t fit due to my larger radiator. PM me if you want it.

Do you know the difference between the AEM kit and the Snow kit? I know the AEM one recommends the filter + solenoid sold separately and also doesn't say it's 100 meth resistant like the snow one. If I bought the snow one, do I need to get anything else for it? There's also a "stage 1" and "stage 2.5" kit from snow. Apart from the missing gauge with the stage 1, is there any difference? Stage 1 says only 1-15 psi, don't know if I read that correctly though

I think the AEM kit just has a dial you set for start and full spray, more of a simple unit but very popular. I bought the 2.5 kit and I like the gauge for the snow kit but don't know if it is worth the extra money. I also had to buy the solenoid (another $80) because I am using a trunk mount tank. Watched videos where they did not use one but I thought I would rather be safe than sorry. I also bought a boost tap and some 1/4" ID hose in order to get a reliable boost reading. Not to mention getting all my own wire because there are no wires supplied with the kit, just about a foot coming from the back of the gauge. Overall a bit of money spent and several hours worth of work....I'm excited to see what will happen....hopefully worth the effort and cost.

Sounds like the AEM kit is less hassle. I wish I had more reliable access to ethanol because factoring in the cost of the solenoid + filter along with the kit itself as well as the charge pipe, I may as well be doing single port aux.
