Can someone please explain the difference between these two parts? The master cylinder vs the clutch master cylinder.

I had fluid leaking down the clutch pedal, so I replaced the master cylinder. Now my clutch pedal is sticking to the ground. People are now recommending I replace the clutch master cylinder. Is there any point in that?

The master cylinder is for the brakes. The clutch master cylinder is for the clutch. There was probably nothing wrong with your (brake) master cylinder to begin with. It was the clutch master cylinder all along. Replace it. They are in short supply so you'll have to search around.

Got it thank you. So just to confirm that first link I sent for the master cylinder is for the brakes?

Yes. If you look at the website tree it's in the brake parts section. The clutch master is an assembly which includes the clutch pedal.

The confusion comes because both the clutch and the brakes share one fluid reservoir. They are, however, completely separate hydraulic pressure systems.

I don't mean to add more confusion. But to me it seems like the master cylinder link I sent earlier is part of the clutch hydraulic system in the websites tree.

While this part, also called a master cylinder, is part of the brake's hydraulic system in the tree.

Now that I look at it, it's not the brake master. That one looks different. It may be that the one is included in the pedal assembly. I have previously only seen the clutch master coming as part of the pedal assembly. It stands to reason that the hydraulic part may be changed on the pedal assembly.

For the full pedal assembly,
Clutch Master Cylinder - Ford (AY1Z-7519-A)

I just had my order cancelled and the reason given was "no longer available"

Luckily bleeding the system seems to have rectified things but sucks to see parts like this going bye bye
