Doing inspection while swapping the front brake pads I noticed advanced abrasion wear on the lower coolant line exiting the reservoir, heading over to the back corner of the engine.

It appeared to be rubbing against the removable black plastic top engine cover.
The line appears to be extra thick and suspect it has steel braid between the inner/outer layers.

To mitigate the issue, I considered loosely zip tying it to the refrigerant line. Also considered tucking it underneath the engine cover. Both options had potential issues. So I decided to make good use out of a bad roll of electrical tape that I otherwise would've thrown away. Suppose other options would be to simply cut away that part of the engine cover or leave it off.

Cutting away that part of the cover seems like the most reasonable option.

Spotted another abrasion wear issue during an inspection.
This one may lead to (salt) water getting into the hood release line, seizing or/and fracturing it.
You can click on the smaller images to enlarge.
Cleaned the line with rubbing alcohol, slathered some RTV Silicon Gasket Maker on it, wrapped in many opposing layers of electrical tape, secured tape with zip-ties.
The middle zip-tie on wrapped tape is unnecessary. Mis-guess on needed location.
Just the first and last zip-ties are needed.
Drilled a hole in the plastic to use another zip-tie to secure the line in place so it won't move.

Taken from prior thread dated 17y05m29d...

I never mentioned this to the dealer service center but they apparently spotted my jury-rigging and fixed this back in 2017 by replacing the line. So thumbs up for them. It's well above there and not contacting anything.
