^^all good points. I'm just skeptical based on the current form of the Fiesta as a base for an AWD car. They have mentioned about refreshing it in a couple of years so the next iteration might make it more feasible.

Hah. Well there is also the Escort RS rally homologation car: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escort_RS_Cosworth

Now THAT was a car. I've driven with one of these (and a Mazda GTX as well) at local track days. They are outliers for sure.

It's a bit sad that things like Group B homologation cars went away. Although it was not a particularly safe era of racing, it made for some incredible "street" cars: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_B

From track days long gone:

Here's another:

Not a cheap car to keep in the garage for rare visits to the track.

The worst part of all these renders is that they're based on the Mk7 body - which has *zero* chance of seeing an RS variant. the RS will be on the Mk8 body, which will be very different, and sorry to say very likely 5-door only (of all the Mk8 Fiesta concepts I saw in 2013, NONE were 3-door).
